In Level 2, your child is off the bubble and ready to learn the basics of the freestyle. Building on the skills they developed in Level 1, your child will practice proper positioning for the freestyle (or front crawl) stroke. A swim evaluation is required for Level 2.
In this six-week class, your child will develop the following skills:
- Strong Kick: This will help them get in the right body position for the freestyle stroke.
- Head Turn: They’ll learn where to position their head when their face is out of the water, as well as when and how to rotate back into the water.
- Arm Rotation: Also known as the “catch and pull,” the arm rotation is a key part of the stroke that will help propel your child through the water.
- All Together Now: They’ll first practice these positions on the wall, then put them all together in the lane!
To move on to Level 3, your child will have to do a swim assessment demonstrating their Level 2 Freestyle skills.
All classes are taught by certified swim instructors and open to swimmers of All abilities.
